Eidos Publishing was founded by photographer Karl Forsberg and is dedicated to the photo book as an art form. The name comes from Roland Barthes’ book Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography, where he searches for the eidos of photography – its innermost essence.

The publisher wants to create books where image and thought meet, where photography becomes both presence and reflection.

The first publication is In the Company of Chance, written and photographed by Karl Forsberg. The book is expected to be on sale at the end of November 2025.

Eidos Förlag grundades av fotografen Karl Forsberg och är tillägnat fotoboken som konstform. Namnet kommer från Roland Barthes bok Det ljusa rummet: Tankar om fotografiet, där han söker fotografiets eidos – dess innersta väsen.

Förlaget vill skapa böcker där bild och tanke möts, där fotografi blir både närvaro och eftertanke.

Den första utgivningen är In the Company of Chance, skriven och fotograferad av Karl Forsberg. Boken beräknas finnas till försäljning i slutet av november 2025.
